In the UK, most households with someone aged 66 or above between 19th and 25th September 2022 are entitled to help towards their energy costs under the Government’s Winter Fuel Payment scheme. This year during November and December, millions of pensioners will also receive a one-off extra £300 payment which will be paid automatically, usually via direct debit.
You qualify for a Winter Fuel Payment if both the following apply:
• You were born on or before 25 September 1956
• You lived in the UK for at least one day during the week of 19 to 25 September 2022 – this is called the ‘qualifying week’
