Visiting Midland Container Logistics

The summer recess is a great opportunity to get out and about across the constituency. I was pleased to be able to meet James Donlon of Midland Container Logistics last week at their base on the Industrial Estate on Westgate.

A family-owned road transport company specialising in container transport. James and his family formed the company in 2004 and have steadily grown the business to a fleet of over 30 trucks.

As part of my visit, I was also able to meet with representatives from the Road Haulage Association and hear about the challenges facing the industry.

As everyone would expect the biggest challenge remains the rising price of fuel and as agreed I will continue to raise this in Parliament and call upon the Chancellor of the Exchequer in his October budget to reverse their decision to gradually end the fuel duty escalator starting on 1st September.

Thank you, James, for a great visit.
