It was an honour to join Mayor of Walsall Councillor Anthony Harris, at the Barr Beacon VE Day 80th Anniversary event earlier today for the raising of the VE Day Flag.
Amongst those in attendance to celebrate and commemorate VE80, were representatives from the Barr Beacon Trust, veterans from the Mercian Regiment and the Walsall and Bloxwich branch of the Staffordshire Regiment Association, students from local schools including as Pheasey Park Farm School, and Lindens Primary.
We remember the profound sacrifices made by those who fought for our freedom, enabling the lives we live today.
