During the last few weeks we have seen a number of Unauthorised Traveller Encampments in Aldridge, Brownhills and Shelfield.
I have always been very clear that such Encampments are unacceptable to residents’ right across my Aldridge-Brownhills constituency and they are unacceptable to me.
I still consider that the law needs strengthening to help redress the balance and protect residents. Having written to the Minister of State at the Home Office responsible for Crime and Policing, I am pleased that the Home Office consultation ‘Strengthening Police Powers to Tackle Unauthorised Encampments’ is to be published in due course.
I will of course continue to keep all of my constituents updated on this important matter.
