Several of my constituents have contacted me with regards to the proposed sale of Ryders Mere.
I was pleased last week to go onsite and speak with some local residents and remind myself how beautiful this area is and how valuable it is to our community.
The islands on the lake are used by many nesting birds including Great Crested and Little Grebes, Black Headed Gulls, Terns and Greylag Geese and even Oyster Catchers to name but a few.
Whilst we cannot stop a landowner from selling their land, we must remain vigilant to the prospect that vital Green Belt and Open Spaces may be offered up for development and be lost to our communities forever. However, please be assured if there is the prospect of developing this land I will stand shoulder to shoulder with residents from Pelsall and Clayhanger to oppose it.
I will continue to monitor this, and I will of course continue to keep residents informed.
