The decision of the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner to close Aldridge Police Station next year is outrageous.

Under the previous proposal the residents of Aldridge were offered a consultation. But, the new Police and Crime Commissioner is simply forging ahead with the closure programme, ignoring the wishes of residents, and riding roughshod across our local communities.

This means there will only be one Police Station left in the Borough of Walsall, and this means no station on the Eastern half of the Borough. What’s more the nearest neighbouring stations in Kingstanding and Sutton Coldfield are also closing.

The Police and Crime Commissioner has failed to engage with the public on his estates review and has simply rubber stamped the previous decision.

Residents of Aldridge Deserve Better! I will continue to oppose the closure of Aldridge Police Station!
