| Our Armed Forces do a tremendous job – from keeping us safe, to assisting with humanitarian operations. Their sense of duty and their professionalism is an example to us all and that is why I was pleased to support the Overseas Operation Bill to give further protection to our troops.
As a Government we committed to tackling the large number of vexatious legal claims that plague our veterans, the new proposed Overseas Operation Bill will introduce a 5-year limit on when prosecutions can be brought against our soldiers while operating overseas, unless in exceptional circumstances. Our Armed Forces whilst working overseas put themselves in harm’s way every single day so that we can live out lives in peace, so I am pleased to be supporting this legislation to give them greater protections. |
