| I was pleased to speak in last week’s debate on the Government’s proposed Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill.
As part of my contribution to the debate I welcomed the commitment by Ministers to remove the top-down centrally-driven housing targets and to allow a local led target based on the priorities of local communities. I believe this is essential to help us protect our precious Green Belt across Aldridge-Brownhills, and I will continue to press the Government on this. The Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill will also help local Council’s to unlock the development of small sites and facilitate a prioritisation of brownfield land. I have long argued that we need to be a regeneration generation with new homes of the right type and in the right place. I believe that the amended Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill gives the opportunity to respect our open spaces and build the homes we need for future generations. To read my full contribution….. |
