Last summer there were a series of incidents in the constituency where a number of swans and cygnets were killed by motorists driving through Stubbers Green. This and a number of other wildlife deaths have understandably upset a number of local residents. I have been seeking action on this matter including raising the issue in Parliament and as a direct result of this I have secured a meeting with Transport Minister Andrew Jones MP. The Minister has agreed to meet with me and some of the local residents who have been in contact about this issue to see at first hand the danger posed to our wildlife locally and the issues of vehicle safety in our area.
There is a petition that has been set up by local activist calling for action which currently has over 4,500 signatures and I urge you to support this. I am delighted that the Minister understands our concerns over the safety of our local wildlife and I look forward to welcoming him to Aldridge-Brownhills in March.
