Constituents regularly contact me about local matters that are of concern to them, and sometimes they write to me about the charities and organisations whose work they support. The recent Party Conference in Birmingham was therefore a good opportunity to meet with representatives from a number of these charities and voluntary organisations and discuss the issues that you have raised.
I was very pleased to be able to meet with the Alzheimer’s Society, and representatives from Guide Dogs for the Blind and hear more about their latest campaigns, as well as to speak with the National Farmers Union and reaffirm my support for British Farmers and British Farming.
On the theme of transport, and with the automotive sector being such a key industry to us here in the West Midlands I popped along to see the Royal Mail and check out their new electric post van. I also took the opportunity to meet with Aurrigo who have developed a driverless pod locally and I couldn’t leave Conference without having a test ride!
