It was a pleasure to join Tam Miller,  organisers from the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal Aldridge Area and Aldridge Rotary at the Poppy Concert held last week at Aldridge Methodist Church, thanks to Rev Nancy Ndoho.

It was great to be back for the return of the concert after its three year absence from our diaries due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  It also marked the 40th Anniversary of the Falklands conflict.

Once again we were treated to music from The Shelfield Male Voice Choir and   soloist Maggie O’Hara.  It was an evening of music through the ages and everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed the event.

As we start to reflect ahead of Remembrance Sunday our thoughts will focus on the service and the sacrifice of both military and civilian personnel who gave their lives for our freedom.

Later this week I will be joining pupils at Brownhills Ormiston Academy at their Act of Remembrance as well as joining some of the many other commemorative events taking place across my Aldridge-Brownhills community at this very poignant time of the year for us all. Lest we Forget.
