This morning, I had the rare chance to catch a train from Walsall Town Centre, passing through Aldridge on its way to London Euston, all thanks to WSMR.
This service was given special permission to run today to demonstrate what the future of our local transport could look like.
As I’ve said many times however, the Wrexham to London Euston route must include a stop at Aldridge. The land has already been secured by our previous Mayor, Andy Street.
My constituency of Aldridge-Brownhills is one of only a handful in the country without its own railway station. Just think of the opportunities and connectivity this would bring!
This was the plan until the West Midlands’ first Labour Mayor redirected the ringfenced funding into his nationalised bus programme.
Mr Mayor, the ball is in your court. It is time to do the right thing for Aldridge-Brownhills and reinstate the funding to deliver this project!
