I was pleased to be out and about across Brownhills this weekend and speaking with so many local residents.
It was lovely to call in at the Christmas Mini Market at Brownhills Methodist Church and catch up with everyone again. It certainly has started to feel like Christmas is coming.
I was also delighted to meet with Tom and Margaret Powell to view the new plaque at Brownhills Memorial Hall in honour of Geoffrey Harrington.
Geoffrey was a top professional runner, and he was latterly a respected snooker and billiards referee. Geoffrey achieved many sporting achievements in his life, including a world record in 1961 for running 130 yards in 11.85 seconds.
Sadly, Geoffrey died in 2021, but working with members of his family my Office helped to secure a lasting plaque in his memory which is now at the Brownhills Memorial Hall.
It was a pleasure to meet members of his family to see the plaque which was officially unveiled by the Mayor of Walsall earlier in the month.
Thank you to Tom and Margaret for making time to meet me.
