Following on from the success of last year’s Mayor’s Community Weekend, West Midlands Mayor Andy Street is once again inviting applications from groups across our region, including Aldridge-Brownhills to apply for funding towards their events.

On the weekend of Saturday 29 June and Sunday 30 June 2019, events will be taking place across the West Midlands to celebrate the second Mayor’s Community Weekend. The aim of this is to celebrate diversity and bring people together. The Mayor’s Community weekend encourages people to go out, engage in their local communities and increase social interaction.

Working in partnership with The National Lottery Community Fund, previously known as the Big Lottery Fund, to offer £100,000 of National Lottery funding to groups who want to run an event.

You can apply for grants of up to £500 to fund either the full cost of a small event, or as a contribution towards the cost of a larger event.

To apply for funding you can either submit a short video (up to three minutes) or make a written online application (up to 500 words).

You’ll be asked to answer the following four questions.

1. What event will you be hosting and why? (up to 150 words)

2. Who will be attending, and how will they be involved in designing and delivering the event? (up to 150 words)

3. How will you make people aware of your event and encourage them to attend? (up to 100 words)

4. How will this bring your community together? (up to 100 words)

They will also ask you how many people you expect to attend, and in what postcode the event will take place.

If applying in writing, they recommend that you prepare your answers to the questions first before applying online as it’s not possible to save your progress. If you have any queries, please contact community.weekend@tnlcommunityfund.org.uk

If e-mail isn’t possible, you can call theMidlands Hub on 0121 345 7800.
