I recently joined Kerry and members of the dedicated Walsall Wood wombles, as well as Aldridge North and Walsall Wood Cllr Christine Edwards, for a litter pick along Lichfield Road and Brownhills Road.
I know just how hard these amazing volunteers work, in all weathers, to keep our community clean and tidy. As you can see from the photos, we collected quite an amount of litter!
To help improve the situation I contacted Walsall Council to request two additional public bins along Lichfield Road: one near the bus stop by KFC, and another near the bus stop opposite Walsall Wood Dentistry.
Sadly, my previous request to Walsall Council was declined citing the proximity of other existing bins in the area. However, given the huge amount of litter we collected in just one session, it is quite obvious to anyone on the ground that additional bins are urgently needed.
So, I have therefore agreed to contact the Council again to push again for a common-sense solution to this problem!! And I am also contacting KFC directly to see what more they can do to help tackle litter in this area.
Huge thank you to Kerry and the Walsall Wood Wombles for everything they do for our area!
