As our local community came together on Sunday to commemorate the service and sacrifice of those who fought and died for our country it was a poignant reminder of the importance of paying homage to all of our service men and women, and their families and loved ones.
In Aldridge we also remembered Capt. ‘Gus’ Bonner VC, who received the country’s highest honour for gallantry and action above and beyond the call of duty.
I felt very proud to lay a wreath in Aldridge and, later in the day, at St John’s Church in Walsall Wood and be part of Remembrance Day.
Across the constituency, individuals, volunteers and community groups, the uniformed services, the scouts, guiding groups and many other local organisations came together with the Royal British Legion and veterans for Remembrance Sunday.
Lest we forget.
