Today, 8th September, is International Literacy Day.
Designated by UNESCO in 1967, International Literacy
Day aims to remind the public of the importance of literacy as a human right and to push the literacy agenda towards a more literate world.
It is an opportunity to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities, and countries and a reminder to continue to promote literacy on an international scale.
It is also a day when we can celebrate those who teach, and thank all those in the teaching profession for what they do, especially during the pandemic.
