Following the devastating grassland fire up at Barr Beacon last weekend I went up to the site to meet with Cllr Adrian Andrew who is also Chair of The Barr Beacon Trust and to see for myself the damage that has been done to this special and much treasured local nature reserve. It is heartbreaking to see the devastation, and I am keen to support the Trust in the work they continue to do to protect this area for future generations.
I have also spoken with local Firefighters from Aldridge Fire Station, and am extremely grateful to them and all our emergency services who have been involved in tackling wildfires.
It is critical that we all follow their advice and take extra care during the current hot and dry weather conditions.
