From Aldridge to Brownhills, Pelsall to Streetly, I was pleased to be able to join forces with local Councillors and volunteers as part of the “Clean for The Queen” initiative last weekend in the run up to The Queen’s 90th Birthday on 21st April 2016.

When Queen Elizabeth came to the throne, I don’t believe that litter such as plastic bottles, takeaway food packaging, crisp packs and cigarette butts was the problem that we see today, and when I heard about “Clean for The Queen” I was keen to get involved and help. For me it is also important because it’s about communities coming together, looking after our local areas and making a difference albeit in a small and practical way.

It was a cold start each day, but the weather did stay fine throughout Saturday and Sunday and it was good fun being a part of this. I think everyone did a terrific job, and we were very well supported by Clean & Green who assisted with the removal of our many purple bags!
