I was delighted to be part of the “Walsall Engineers – Past, Present, Future” Awards Ceremony held at Blackwood School recently.
The project specifically engaged school children from 7 to 11 years old from Blackwood School to look at the rich engineering heritage in Walsall and become more interested in taking STEM subjects in secondary school.
It was very clear when visiting the school that this had been a very inspiring project and the children had clearly enjoyed learning more about Walsall and its “hidden engineers”. The project has been supported by the Engineering Education Grant Scheme which is run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
It was a pleasure to be able to present the school children with their awards and given the enthusiasm amongst them and the high standards of work produced I feel sure that we have a new crop of budding engineers in our midst.
