For decades the West Midlands was falling behind other parts of the UK and losing out. Many communities, particularly ours in Aldridge-Brownhills were missing out. We weren’t attracting enough high-quality jobs and much needed transport investment.
Now West Midlands Mayor Andy Street has unveiled an ambitious £15bn transport plan for the region. Andy’s plan would represent a huge expansion of the West Midlands’ metro and rail services, creating a transport network fit for the 21st Century.
The ambitious transport network expansion would feature eight new Metro lines, 380 new stops and 21 new rail stations covering more than 150 miles across the region. The new stations would include the re-opening of the Sutton Park Line, starting with a station in Aldridge.
After decades of underinvestment Andy is reviving our transport infrastructure linking up communities to the regional transport network we are building in the West Midlands. A new station in our local area would enable local residents to commute to Walsall and then onto Birmingham and beyond. |
