I have been informed this morning that residents living close to Planters Pacific Garden Centre are to be consulted with regards to a pre-planning application consultation for a proposal to site 200 new houses near the site.

I want to stress that a formal planning application has not been lodged with Walsall Council.

I think that this proposal is totally unacceptable as it poses yet another threat to our Green Belt and Green Open Spaces. There are far more appropriate brownfield sites across the local area that could be utilised for housing development before seeking to concrete our precious pieces green open spaces.

I would urge as many residents as possible from across Streetly to take part in the online consultation which starts tomorrow and runs up until 10th June.
