The Gardening Club at Brownhills Community Centre is a hidden gem – as I discovered on a recent visit. Created to encourage both adults and children to come along and join, plants are grown from seeds in the greenhouse, potted, and then planted out in containers, hanging baskets and raised beds.
The Club started back in 2012 and today grows a range of plants, as well as vegetables, salads and fruit. Thanks to the work of Yoke and her fabulous team they have really “greened up” and transformed the Community Centre.
I had a lovely morning chatting to some of the gardeners, learning more about the project and sharing some gardening tips.
And of course no visit would be complete without a mug of tea outside the potting shed.
Thank you all – and thank you for the green stick beans – delicious!
