I am absolutely delighted that the Department for Transport has given the conditional approval to start the work on an outline business case to build and open a train station in Aldridge.
Since first being elected in 2015 I have been campaigning to reinstate the station in Aldridge and by securing Government backing we are taking a major step forward.
A lot of this has only being possible because of the foresight and determination of our West Midlands Mayor Andy Street who remains committed to an integrated public transport system across the West Midlands.
The reopening of Aldridge Station will bring major benefits to our local community and will open up access for local residents.
Today represents another major step forward on this journey and I will of course continue to keep you updated.
