It has been a busy start to the New Year and once again it has been good to meet with residents locally at events or at one of my regular pop up surgeries.
I started the month meeting shoppers in Morrisons in Aldridge at my first pop up Surgery of 2018 and I then held a second one at Brownhills Community Association this week. These regular pop up surgeries are a great way for me to speak to so many of you and I hold them regularly right across the constituency. In the coming weeks and months, I will be continuing to hold surgeries at venues and locations across the constituency. If you see me please feel free to stop by and chat.
It was good to be able do my bit for both St Giles’ Hospice and the environment by dropping off my old Christmas Cards at the Aldridge Shop earlier in the month. By collecting Christmas Cards for recycling St Giles’ is able to raise additional funds, and they are continuing to collect up until 31st January. I was also pleased to be able to call into the Friends of Streetly Library AGM and speak with some of the dedicated volunteers and supporters.
January also saw a very moving and very special service at Lichfield Cathedral for the laying up of the Colours (flags) of the 3rd Battalion of the Mercian Regiment “The Staffords”. It was a privilege to attend and represent our area alongside my Parliamentary colleagues from neighbouring Staffordshire constituencies.
My ‘New Year News’ has now started to be delivered too, bringing residents an update of my work in Parliament, on the issues which matter to us here in Aldridge-Brownhills. With forthcoming visits planned to the Streetly Red Cross as well as a site visit to the new Churchill residential home development in Aldridge, and of course the last night of this year’s Aldridge Youth Theatre pantomime ‘Humpty Dumpty’, it promises to be a busy few weeks ahead.
