It has been good to be out and about across my constituency in the run up to Christmas, to meet with so many residents and see some of the fantastic work which is being undertaken in our local communities.
It was a pleasure once again to visit the Aldridge Sorting Office and the hard work been undertaken by our Postmen and women as part of preparing for the Christmas rush. It is always quite an experience to see first-hand the tremendous effort on the floor of the sorting room as the Royal Mail go about ensuring we all receive those cards and presents in time, but I think we are particularly grateful for the extra effort they have gone to this year given the unexpected snowfall.
Earlier in the month it was a pleasure to join the Mayoress of Walsall judging the annual Christmas Tree decoration competition organized by the Friends of High Heath Park at Autumn Close Community Rooms. Children from St Francis Catholic Primary School and Greenfields Primary School had made some fabulous handmade decorations and there were worthy winners from both schools. It was great to see Father Christmas on hand too, to help present the prizes and gifts.
The Pelsall Ladies Choir were once again in fine voice at their annual Christmas Carol Service at St Michaels and All Angels Parish Church, and Squadron 1444 (Brownhills) Air Cadets were once again doing fantastic work at Tesco’s last week raising funds by helping Christmas shoppers pack their bags.
It has been quite a busy time attending the large number of Christmas Fayres which have been taking place across the constituency, and I can honestly say my supply of cakes and jams will last well into the New Year! It has been an absolute pleasure to be able to support so many events including those at Rushall Christ the King Church, St John’s at Walsall Wood, Pelsall Hall Nursing Home, St James’ at Brownhills and St Michaels and All Angels in Pelsall.
As we prepare for the festive season it is a time to look ahead to the new year whilst also reflecting on the one past. It also provides me with an opportunity to say thank you to all of you from across my constituency for the hard work and dedication you have once again shown to make Aldridge-Brownhills one of the best places to both live and work. A very Happy Christmas to you all.
