It was a pleasure to attend the Youth Sport Trust Reception in Parliament last week alongside the wonderful, Mr Downie, headteacher of Streetly Academy.

It was also great to meet Shaunagh Brown, the England Rugby Prop, to discuss the vital importance of sport in the development of our youngest generation.

The Youth Sport Trust was founded in 1995 to harness the power of play and sport in children’s education and development.

This event was part of the wider engagement in National School Sport Week, and I look forward to visiting some schools in Aldridge-Brownhills to see first-hand the importance and value of PE and school sport in promoting inclusion, enhancing physical and mental wellbeing and developing future skills.
