Today is World Mental Health Day. – a day on which we can all unite in our efforts to improve the mental health of people around the world.
The theme for to mark this year’s event is suicide prevention. By recognising this today it gives us all an opportunity to raise awareness of the scale of suicide around the world and acknowledge the sad reality that every 40 seconds someone loses their life to suicide.
Today we can all take the opportunity to improve the awareness of the significance of suicide as a global public health problem, as well as our knowledge of what steps can be taken to prevent suicide. Today is also an opportunity to show people that we all care.
