Today marks #WorldBookDay 2024, providing a chance to advocate for reading for enjoyment and ensuring every child has access to their own book.

World Book Day is a significant initiative aiming to boost nationwide reading habits. I encourage parents, grandparents, and carers my Aldridge-Brownhills constituency to spend ten minutes reading with their children on World Book Day and every day after.

Sharing stories regularly, whether at home, school, or any place, for just ten minutes a day, can have a lasting positive impact on children’s future. World Book Day collaborates with authors, illustrators, publishers, bookshops, and libraries to promote reading for pleasure among children and young people.

We are fortunate in Aldridge-Brownhills to have outstanding community libraries and schools that support reading and foster the lifelong love of reading for pleasure.
