On his first day in office Prime Minister Boris Johnson promised to make sure that every child has equal opportunities to succeed – regardless of their background or where they live.

As a Government we have committed more than £14 billion additional funding over the next three years, meaning every pupil in every school will get more money, and funding across the country will be levelled up and benefit schools right across my Aldridge-Brownhills constituency.

Under the proposals it will mean that every secondary school will be able to receive a minimum of £5,000 per pupil next year, and every primary school will be able to receive a minimum of £4,000 from 2021-22 meaning the biggest funding boost for our schools in more than a decade.

At the end of last week the Government set out more detail about how schools across the country will benefit from this increased funding next year. The Government’s new investment will give schools, teachers and parents the certainty to plan, helping further improve standards and ensure our children and young people get a truly world-class education.
