The National Autistic Society recently hosted its first ever Understanding Autism training event for Members of Parliament and I was pleased to be able to attend.
It was an opportunity to learn and understand a bit more about autism, and receive guidance on creating autism friendly surgeries and communities.
2019 marks the tenth anniversary since the Autism Act came into effect. The Government’s recent call for evidence on how to improve services and support for autistic people will mean that later this year we will be refreshing the ‘Think Autism’ strategy, which will include extending the strategy to cover children as well as adults, so services work better for autistic people of all ages.
