Last weekend, I attended a special service held at St. Paul’s Church in Walsall to honour Sister Dora’s memory and legacy, and to express gratitude for the continued work and dedication of NHS staff.
As so many know, Dorothy Pattison, known as Sister Dora, was a compassionate and dedicated nurse during the 1860s and 1870s. Often compared to Florence Nightingale, Sister Dora selflessly cared for thousands of patients, many of whom were victims of industrial accidents. Her memory and legacy, which has influenced healthcare locally and inspired new generations, is commemorated every year on her birthday, January 16th.
