It was a pleasure to join the pupils and staff at Ryders Hayes Primary School, along with Professor Gatrad of WASUP (Walsall Against Single Use Plastic), at their recent ‘Earth Day’ assembly.

It was great to see the children learn more about the harmful effects of single use plastics and also the passion which they have to make their school single use plastic free.

I was also pleased to launch their special letter writing competition whereby the children will write a letter to Parliament, to the Secretary of State for The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, to persuade the Government to take further action against single use plastic, and to demonstrate Ryders Hayes’ commitment to caring for our environment,

Thank you to everyone who is involved in this inspiring campaign and Good Luck with the competition! I look forward to seeing the letters.
