Week in week out right across my Aldridge-Brownhills constituency I see the hard work undertaken by large groups of volunteers who make our community an inspiration.

So I was delighted therefore to join the Pelsall Ladies Choir and Councillor Garry Perry last weekend to celebrate the retirement of June Davenhill BEM after conducting the local choir for more than 50-years.

Throughout that time the Ladies Choir under June’s stewardship has gone from strength to strength bringing hundreds of hours of entertainment to the local community and raising thousands of pounds for local charities.

Whilst the Pelsall ladies Choir will continue their great work we will all miss seeing June at the helm, it was a pleasure to celebrate her retirement and I look forward to her joining us in the audience at the next concert.
