Attending the Launch of Speedo Swim United’s Event with Ellie Simmonds.
This week, I had the honour of attending the launch of the Speedo Swim United event in Parliament with Aldridge’s Ellie Simmonds. The event was to highlight the pop-up pool programme aimed at schools in the West Midlands to help boost swimming rates in low swimming attainment.
Having originated from Aldridge, Ellie has a Gold Post Box in her honour in the village, thanks to her impressive performance in the 2012 London Summer Paralympics that earned her two golds, a silver and a bronze medal.
It was lovely to meet Ellie and to also hear from Speedo Active, Black Country. Their dedication to ensuring that every child in the UK can swim 25m by 2025 is truly exceptional.
