Recess is a great opportunity to be out and about across my Aldridge-Brownhills constituency and it was great this week to be able to return to the Aldridge Transport Museum.
For more than 40 years the museum has been a gem in our local community in the way in which it continues to preserve the heritage and legacy of road transport vehicles from across the West Midlands.
It was also another good opportunity to meet and thank the volunteers who work so hard to maintain this valuable community asset.
Although there wasn’t time on this visit to whip round the streets of Aldridge on the Red RouteMaster Bus (Boris Johnson style!). I was also pleased to see my favourite Ice Cream Van and fascinated to learn that it was based on an Austin A40 Devon saloon; it was transformed into an ice Cream van at a garage in Kendal before spending most of its working life selling ice cream in the Lake District.
