Since the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner announced his intention to close Aldridge Police Station I have consistently campaigned against his closure programme.

Having been concerned that the Police and Crime Commissioner would press ahead with his closure programme before the pending Police and Crime Commissioner Election I wrote to Mr Jamieson for reassurances that this decision would not be rubber stamped without proper consultation with residents across my Aldridge-Brownhills constituency.

I am pleased that the Police and Crime Commissioner has agreed with me and that no decision will be taken on the future of our Police Station before the election in May 2021.

I will continue to campaign to maintain a police presence in Aldridge because I believe public safety and reassurance are of paramount importance to all of my Aldridge-Brownhills constituents and that means retaining our Police Station in Aldridge.
