As someone who set up a small business I know only too well the challenges that can bring, but also the opportunities too. Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy, and I have always been proud as your Member of Parliament to champion our small businesses and to push to see that they receive the support they need from the Government to be able to get on with the day job. That’s why I am pleased to see the Government announced a further £200 million to support British businesses.
The Government’s Modern Industrial Strategy demonstrates commitment to supporting small business and helping them to succeed, and this new funding which is being made available through the British Business Bank will provide loans to small companies looking to increase in size.
We should not forget that as a country we are creating more start-up businesses than any other European country, and this additional funding will help ensure our small businesses and entrepreneurs can thrive and make Britain the best place in the world to do business.
