Those who watched the ITV Drama “Mr Bates v’s The Post Office” will I am sure have been filled with a sense of anger or emotion at the miscarriage of justice done to so many of our Postmasters and Postmistresses across our country.

I was pleased that the Business and Trade Minister came to the House of Commons today and updated Members of Parliament.

The Government is committed not just to overturning the criminal convictions of those wrongfully prosecuted, but also unlocking the compensation they are entitled to.

I will wholeheartedly support the Government to ensure that there is justice for the victims of this scandal, and I resolve as your Member of Parliament to work to ensure such a tragedy never happens again.

I welcome the that the former Chief Executive Officer of the Post Office has voluntarily offered to return her CBE, whilst this is welcomed, it is only one small part of ensuring that there is justice on behalf of all those people so adversely affected by these tragic events.
